Carol and Ralph always valued high quality education and understood its role in creating and sustaining thriving communities and successful individuals. We are still developing our long-term strategy with respect to education. But as with our Arts and Culture and Community Development strategies, we want to support those initiatives that bring the greatest and longest-lasting impact along the education continuum.
Our investment in Northern Kentucky University’s College of Business will help ensure quality education options as well as contribute to the growth of a talented workforce in our region. Our continued support of and collaboration with Strive—the cradle-to-career-regional initiative focused on ensuring our students are prepared for school, succeed and are supported along the way, and matriculate into post-secondary education programs that position them well for meaningful and productive careers—clearly aligns to the Haile’s vision. Our investment in backpacks for Crayons to Computers helps provide a sense of pride and self-esteem for those students in need.
As William Butler Yeats, the Irish author, poet and dramatist, once said: “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” Our hope is that, through initiatives like Strive, we can light the fires of our students and help them fulfill their dreams as they help us build a vibrant community through their passion and commitment to a successful life.
